zombie 24 - Jon

The zombie apocalypse was in full swing and Jon had no idea where Sara was.

He was starting to lose hope of ever seeing her again, until he heard his name being yelled. He was over joyed to see that it was Sara yelling his name, even though it didn’t quite sound like her.

He was even more surprised as she ran right in to him, knocking him down, ripping at his shirt and biting off his nose.

Now they both roam the streets of Austin searching for brains.

zombie 23 - Sara

While I was turning Sara in to a zombie, I inadvertently made her one of the fast and enraged type zombies.

She nearly broke the restraints but I managed to release her in to the public without danger to myself.

As soon as she was free she let out a loud and guttural scream that sounded like JON and then sprinted away.

I haven’t seen her since.

zombie 22 - Katrina

Some people like the idea of the zombie apocalypse so much, they’ll do anything to make it happen.

Usually they see the error of their ways but not Katrina.

When everything was happening and panic was in the streets, she went out and caught herself a zombie. She took it home and tried to keep it as a pet.

zombie 21 - Lenin

It never crossed Lenin ‘s mind that something was wrong when he was going home. All he could think about is how he forgot to buy his wife a gift for this day.

Valentines day.

He was trying to think of something to do or some place to take her as he walked in the front door. So preoccupied was he that he totally failed to notice the door wasn’t locked.

He found her in the kitchen, just standing there, swaying gently side to side.

zombie 20 - Hector

When the congregation heard Héctor screaming and pounding at the door they knew not to let him in. But his desperate cries of fear and panic were to much to bear.

They quickly opened the door, pulled him inside and barricaded it shut again.

He was in rough shape, bleeding from a wound on his arm and a tear in his face.

zombie 19 - Michelle

When I zombified Michelle she didn’t look like this originally.

When I let her out of the house she lurched her way across the street to my neighbors yard. I don’t know his real name, we call him the lawnmower man because he’s always mowing his lawn.

Almost everyday.

So it really wasn’t much of a surprise to see him come running out of his garage with a weed whacker held high and on full power. It was quite a sight, seeing the flesh and blood splattering everywhere.

It didn’t stop Michelle though.

She still grabbed him, even after all the damage he did to her face, and she rewarded him by sinking her teeth deep into his neck.

zombie 17 and 18 - Todd and Igor

+Todd Nolte  was walking his dog Igor when a weird guy attacked them in the street. What made him weird is the fact that he was missing an arm, covered in blood from wounds on his face and chest, and his skin was green.

Igor took the offensive immediately and lunged at the guy, sinking his teeth in the mans remaining arm and shaking it violently. Igor shook it so hard in fact, that he tore the arm right off the man, but it didn’t seem to phase him. He still walked towards Todd, not making a sound.
Todd kicked the man in the chest knocking him down, then called Igor to his side, made him drop the arm that was still in his mouth, and took him home.

zombie 16 - Katiasha

It was mid-afternoon in theCITY, Katiasha and Juan were cautiously making their way through a back alley searching for an easy way in to one oft he local stores. It was just bad luck that a small horde started to shuffle by.

Startled by the sight them, Katiasha let out a small yelp of panic which was quickly muffled by Juan. But it was to late. The zombies heard it, and as one they all turned to see the living flesh in front of them.

Katiasha and Juan turned around and started running as the zombies lurched after them. 

Most of them were slow, but there was one zombie that wasn’t.

The zombie that started sprinting after them had a face of twisted rage and burning hunger in its eyes.

zombie 15 - Adam

+Adam Johnson was speeding to the hospital as fast as he could with his wife sobbing and screaming beside him. She was getting weaker, her cries becoming fainter.

Suddenly she stopped.

Adam drove faster and feared the worst.

He was relieved when she opened her eyes and looked at him.
Then she attacked.

zombie 14 - Kristen

The traffic was heavier than normal that fateful day, and the radio stations were all filled with reports of wide spread panic and murder in the streets.

Leaving their 2 children home with a sitter, Adam was driving his wife Kristen to the hospital because she had gotten gravely ill overnight.

While stopped at a red light, some crazy bag lady smashed through the passenger side window and tore at her face, scratching and biting it.

Adam hit the gas and sped away as quickly as he could while his wife screamed, clutching her face..

Less than a minute later the screaming stopped ...

zombie 13 - Michael

Poor Michael. He was just going about his business, trying to survive in a world gone mad.

Everyone he knew is either a zombie ... or leftovers.

He was getting tired of running, tired of hiding, and just plain tired.

The sort of tired that creeps up on you and knocks you out when you let your guard down and stop moving.

And that’s when the zombies found him.

zombie 12 - Holly

+Holly Estrada fought with her sister during the zombie apocalypse.

Neither one of them won and neither one of them cares what the fight was about anymore.

Now they’re eating moms brains ... together ... like sister zombies should.

zombie 11 - Holly's sister

When sisters fight during the zombie apocalypse, it never ends well.

Just ask Holly’s little sister.

She would probably say “You should see what my sister looks like!”

That is, if she could say more than just BraAaainssss.

zombie 10 - Jonathan

Jonathan was getting ready to leave the night club when the fight broke out. It wasn’t a typical bar fight that only involved a few people. This was the entire club fighting and panicking. People were going completely insane and attacking everyone and anyone they could. There were people lying on the floor screaming, bloody and in some cases, dead.

People were trying to leave the club while others were rushing in. It was total chaos and in all the confusion and fighting, a fire started.

Jonathan felt a bottle smash over his head covering him in glass and vodka.

zombie 9 - Henry

Henry is a classic example of brain surgery gone wrong.

Shortly after the surgeons reattached the top of his head the zombie apocalypse happened.

Maybe there was something in the air that triggered the rising of Henry ... maybe he was already infected.

Whatever the case, he rose, consumed and killed, and now wanders the city peering in windows looking for his next meal.

Zombie 8 - Hannah

Hannah got cornered by Ben and while she did put up a helluva fight, she didn’t see Celia until she was biting her arm.

It’s what happens if you wander around during the zombie apocalypse alone. No one to watch your back.

zombie 7 - Celia

When Celia didn’t hear from her friend Ben she went to his place, not knowing he was already among the walking dead.

He attacked, she fought, lost, and now they both roam the city searching for brains ... and Hannah.

zombie 6 - Ben

When the infection began to take hold of Ben it started slowly, just a small sore on his cheek ... which he picked at.

It got worse, he picked some more ... eventually losing all control while he panicked and picked off half his face.

zombie 5 - Daniel

His name was Daniel and it was his life’s goal to educate the living about the day the dead would rise. Some would say Daniel longed for the day to prove himself, he craved that moment. He was known to spend countless hours pouring over documentation and research with the hopes of having the upper hand.

Eventually he began his own blog to spread the knowledge and started public speaking to warn others. Daniel was riding high and then they came, rising from the graves, spreading their infection among those he called family and friend.

This was the moment he had prepared for, quickly he set about making sure everyone was safe. It was in those final moments when he felt most confident of his achievements that his English teacher showed up. With a pencil behind her ear and that classic beehive hairdo she slowly approached.
Daniel hesitated a moment too long and was overrun, the undead English teacher lumbering in for the final strike.

zombie 4 - SJ

SJ was scared and didn’t know what to do. He had heard all the screaming, heard the door to his sisters room crack and break followed by more screams. Now it was quiet, and was just as scary.

He waited a little longer, listening for any sounds but hearing nothing.

Carefully and quietly he opened the door and looked down the hall. Light was coming from his sisters room and he could see pieces of the broken door.

zombie 3 - Justinne

Justinne was awakened to the sound of screams. She got out of bed and headed down to find out what was going on. The screams seemed to intensify as she got to the bottom of the stairs, and as she rushed through the livnig room towards the kitchen, she witnessed a horrific site.

Her own mother was attacking her sister.

Zombie 2 - Shannel

Shannel was getting worried. Her mom wasn’t home yet and it was getting late. Her brother and sister were already sleeping, but she couldn’t sleep. Not yet. Not until she knew her mom was safe. She kept trying to call her mom’s cell phone, but it was never answered.

Now Shannel was watching the news with mounting terror. Every channel was showing the same thing. Rioting in the streets, burning cars, mobso f people attacking others. She even saw a camera man and reporter get attacked on channel 7 news. No one knew why it was happening, but the police are advising everyone to stay inside and lock the doors.

zombie 1 - Carmelyne

It was already late when Carmelyn entered the parkade and headed for her car. The place was still full of cars, which was peculiar for this late hour, and there was no one in sight. Even the security guard wasn’t in his little booth.

She felt oddly creeped out as she hurried through the garage to the sounds of her own foot steps ... and what sounded like a low moan.

She turned the last corner and saw her car just where she left it, parked nearly in the middle of the row. She also saw the source of the moan, a single man at the far end of the garage, leaning against the wall with his back to her ... story continued in the book

1000 Zombies - RELOADING

It began in 2012 ... an undead art project funded and directed by you. Zombie portraits were being created based on who or what you chose and funded. Many chose themselves ... or a loved one ... or their whole family. Several chose fictional characters, or their pets ... someone chose a politician, another chose his boss.

It wasn't planned out .... just a spur of the moment idea without agenda or set in stone timeline. It was supposed to be a bloody chaotic mess of twisted undead portraits ... and I never thought it would take this long.

I thought it would be fast ... but 1000 is a much larger number than you realize until you actually try to do a 1000 of something.

Nearly 3 years later ( which included multiple sick days, some quite severe, more than a few burnouts, a couple of panic attacks and even one nearly unshakeable moment of severe doubt that wanted me to throw away my brushes ) and over 250 zombies completed specifically for this project, its time to reload and refresh.

For that to happen I'm going to start reposting all of the zombies completed for this project in to this one single blog. I will include a snippet of the story that each one has, and the full stories can be read in the ebooks when they are available. Everyone that takes part in the 1000 zombies project gets a free copy of the ebook containing their zombie.
